With the leaves finally changing color, Autumn has truly hit New York City. And while the Fall foliage is pretty, anyone who has ever had to rake leaves knows what a total pain in the ass it is, a seemingly neverending job. This was my #1 Least Favorite Chore growing up. We had a lot of trees.
This song from Max Eider's 1987 album The Best Kisser in the World, always makes me think of that tedious task, even if here it's just used as a metaphor.
MP3: Max Eider - "Raking Up Leaves"
Max is best-known as putting the jazz in The Jazz Butcher on records like A Scandal in Bohemia and Distressed Gentlefolk. This solo album is, though, is a real lost classic.
