Some may argue that 2005 was a ho-hum music year, but I found it very hard to narrow down my choices -- so much so I went from having a Top Ten to a Top 20 and then to a Top 25. I think only "The Two Sides Of Monsieur Valentine" and "Sing Me Spanish Techno weren't officially singles (though I think it will be early next year) and while The Futureheads' cover of "Hounds of Love" was on the US edition of thier 2004 debut, it was released as a single this year. Also, you may never want to hear "Feel Good Inc." again after that iPod commercial but, admit it, the first time you heard it you probably thought it was awesome. Without further ado, in descending order...
- Clor – "Love + Pain"
- The Futureheads - "Hounds of Love"
- Tom Vek – “If You Want”
- New Pornographers – “Sing Me Spanish Techno”
- Rihanna – “Pon de Replay”
- Gorillaz – “Feel Good Inc.”
- Rakes – “Work, Work, Work (Pub, Club, Sleep)”
- Long Blondes – “Giddy Stratospheres”
- The Cribs – “Martell”
- Art Brut – “Good Weekend”
- Babyshambles – “Fuck Forever”
- The White Stripes – “My Doorbell”
- Radio Dept. – This Past Week EP
- Jens Lekman – "The Opposite of Hallelujah"
- Bloc Party – “Two More Years”
- Battle - "Demons"
- Guillemots – “Trains to Brazil”
- Arctic Monkeys – “Fake Tales of San Francisco”
- Lady Sovereign – “9 to 5”
- Mystery Jets – “You Can’t Fool Me, Dennis”
- Spoon – “The Two Sides Of Monsieur Valentine”
- The Shortwave Set – "Is it Any Wonder?"
- Charlotte Hatherley – “Bastardo”
- Amerie – “1 Thing”
- The Fall – “Clasp Hands”

The Kooks "Sofa Song" came *this* close to making my list. I liked "Eddie's Gun" too.
