Sound Bites Best of 2007 | Singles + Tracks

As usual, I found 2007 to be a better year for songs than albums. It's got to be that way, always, right? This was supposed to be a Top 25 but then I kept remembering other songs I wanted to be on here. Anyway, this is now a Top 30. Most of these are actual singles, but a few are just songs I liked that were released in 2007. A few tracks here I'll admit I'm kind of sick of at this point (probably the same ones you are), and some others are admittedly silly, but I think that's what I love about singles. It is an ephemeral art form by nature and a good picture of what's going on culturally in the, uh, culture. And yes, Klaxons at Number 1. Anyway, in descending order:

I dont know, I found everything that wasn't obvious pretty uninspired.

And no jens lekman, okkervil river, radiohead, or beirut on the list? Somehow I think you could of managed to squeeze a song from one of those in over los campesinos...

Well, Beruit really isn't my thing at all (I've tried); I like the Radiohead record but I'm just not that inspired by it, dunno why; I like the Okkervil River record but not as much as others; and the Jens Lekman album was a real disappointment for me. The best song on the album, "Opposite of Hallelujiah," made my Best of Singles of 2005 list, so I'm not even sure why it's on the album.

wow, what an eclectic list. by which I mean, of course, I can't imagine a more parochial, narrower set of parameters. you listen to Pitchfork-approved music only. but even Pitchfork approves of some hip-hop & country &, uh, SOMETHING not produced by white people with guitars or laptops. Jesus. what a waste of perfectly decent bandwidth.

I'd have to side with you bill. Don't know what it is about lists that make people want to shoot eachother. You could call it zealousness (I don't know how to spell this word because I'm swedish, and though I could waste my narrow bandwidth to find out I won't).

By the way, isn't country the whitest art form made with guitars known to man?

I don't like everything on your list, but then again, Im not you. I am now going to excuse myself for getting upset with the comments.
