Electrelane Going on 'Indefinite Hiatus'

I'm about 99% sure that Electrelane's No Shouts, No Calls is going to be (let's leave some suspense here) one of my Top 3 records of the year, so this news from the band's website makes me very, very sad:

"We have decided that the upcoming gigs will be our last for the foreseeable future. After ten years of much fun and hard work, we have realised that we all need a break and time to do other things.

This was a tough decision for us to make, but ultimately a positive one. A big thank you to everyone who has come to our shows, put on our shows, and bought our records over the years. It means a lot to us. We're really grateful to have had the opportunity to play gigs all over the world and to meet so many lovely people. This last year has been especially enjoyable and we feel happy about moving on with all these good memories to look back on. At the moment we haven’t made any band plans for the future, but we’re going to have a break and see what happens. Love, Electrelane"

This isn't exactly new news (11/07) but somehow I missed it. I'm doubly sad because I missed their sole NYC show at Irving Plaza back in May. If you live in the UK you've still got a chance to see them, though:

If you haven't picked up No Shouts, No Calls yet -- do so. It's among 2007's best. Maybe the best. And they're still releasing singles from it. One of my favorite songs on the album, the sad, romantic "In Berlin," comes out this week with a new instrumental b-side, "Sea of the Edge."

Wow. This is too bad. I also have been enjoying 'No Shouts, No Calls'. Although I'm pretty certain, song for song, I still favor 'The Power Out', I'm keeping NSNC in mind for my top ten of '07.
