It's been over a year since Fujiya & Miyagi first released Transparent Things in the UK and,for some of us, the irresistible groove of "Collarbone" has passed the point of saturation. (I thought it was till I heard it downstairs at Union Hall Saturday night... still sounds great!) If that's you, F&M have a new, non-LP single that should hold you over till they finish Transparent Things' follow-up.
"Uh" sounds like "Collarbone"'s little brother, with almost the same BPM, and another magnificently slinky bass line. It's a bit slight as singles go (plus a title that radio announcers are going to hate), but certainly good enough for that summer mix you're compiling, and should fit nicely somewhere between Calvin Harris, Justice and Chromeo.

Not to ignore their Krautrock tendencies, the b-side, "One Trick Pony," is a pleasant bit of Teutonic, Kraftwerk synth styling. But it's a definite b-side.

Meanwhile, I have it on good authority that when Fujiya & Miyagi will have a drummer by the time they head back to North America for a brief summer tour, including a stop at the South Street Seaport on July 6 with Ulrich Schnauss. (They were pretty darn good without one.) Here are the dates:
July 6 | Seaport Music Festival | NYC (w/ Ulrich Schnauss)
July 7 | Johnny Brendas | Philadelphia, PA
July 9 | Middle East | Downstairs Cambridge, MA
July 10 | Lambi | Montreal, QUE
July 11 | Legendary Horseshoe Tavern | Toronto, ONT
July 12 |Grog Shop | Cleveland Heights, OH
July 14 | Pitchfork Music Festival I Chicago, IL
Buy Transparent Things, if you haven't already.
Awesome. I like these guys. So they will be four soon? (Fujiy & Miyagi)^2
