Elbow's third album, Leaders of the Free World, has a good shot at the top spot of my 2005 year-end list -- it's far-and-away the best thing they've ever done. The band are coming over for some press days and have kindly worked in a show at the Hiro Ballroom on November 3.
Tickets are $17 and already on sale.
I've seen Elbow twice before and they are quite magnetic live performers, even with frontman Guy Garvey sitting on a stool for much of the show. Add to this the atmosphere of the Hiro (and not bad sound, either, if the Metric and Hot Chip shows I saw are any indication) and this is the makings for an excellent night.
Meanwhile, check out the inventive, expensive-looking video for the album's first single, "Forget Myself." (Windows Media)

elbow's new album came out in the U.S. on the 27th, so it can be bought now, not an import.
